Authors Guidline

 Aims and Scope
Management Strategies in Health System Journal (MSHSJ) has been continuously published since 2016 and is quarterly published by the Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences. The aim of the journal is to publish the latest findings in the fields of health management, health economics, and health policy to develop their application in health system improvement. In addition, this journal tries to upgrade the scientific level of professors, researchers, and students within the health scope through timely dissemination of research achievements.
 
MSHSJ accepts the fallowing research types:

 MSHSJ will consider manuscripts in the following fields:

 Please note that this journal only publishes the manuscripts in Persian language, expect the abstract, which is published in English language.
 
Legal and Ethical Standards
  • The journal avoids accepting the published or under consideration articles in the internal or external journals.
  • The author(s) should assert that their manuscript hasn’t been submitted or accepted for publication elsewhere simultaneously.
  • Publishing the articles presented in conferences as a lecture, poster, or published in the articles' abstracts are permissible, but the conference exact date and specifications should be cited exactly.
  • All authors should be informed about the manuscript's submission and the form of the submission should include all authors' signatures. 
  • The legal responsibility of not mentioning all authors’ first names or family names goes to the corresponding author.
  • Authors are responsible for the correctness and accuracy of the manuscript content, order of authors’ names according to their cooperation, responding to the providers of the research financial resources if their names are not mentioned in the title page and responding to any legal claims for the author’s copyright or content.
  • The journal has no responsibilities for disputes among the authors, and the authors’ disputes against other organizations.
 Compliance with Ethical Standards
Ethical approval
Approval of the ethical committee should be mentioned in the article content and also sent to the journal office.
  Informed consent
Authors should ensure that an informed consent was obtained from all participants before conducting survey, or, if participants are unable to provide it, informal consent should be obtained from their legal guardian.
 
Acknowledgements
  • People and organizations that were not directly involved in the research can be appreciated.
  • Include all the individuals who contributed in the study materially or spiritually (any kind of help).
  • It is necessary to briefly mention the cause of appreciating people and the role they played.
 Authorship Criteria
Authors' names should be mentioned according to the defined criteria by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). According to the ICMJE recommendations, authors (or one of them) should have all the following criteria:
  • Have a substantial contribution in at least one of the following activities: a) presenting the research conception or designing the study, b) gathering the data, c) analyzing and interpreting;
  • Have a role in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual scientific content;
  • Study and approve the final version to be published;
  • Agree to be accountable for the correctness and accuracy of all aspects of the work.
Authors' Contribution
In this section, the contribution of each author should be mentioned. However, due to the blind review process, the authors' names should be written in abbreviations; the first letters of the first and family names should be written, such as S. A.

 Financial Support
  • In the case of financial support for the research, should be mentioned the name of supporting organization or institute and grant numbers should be completed.
  • If there was no support for the research, Please write “Not Applicable”
 Competing Interests
  • The author(s) should state all of the affiliations that may be considered as competing interests and report any financial and non-financial supports as well as the possible competing interests.
  •  Should be noted that journal will have the right to make any decision about the articles that do not mention the conflicts and will not be responsive to the authors and supporters’ conflicts and complaints on this subject.
  • If there is no Competing Interests, please state "The authors declare have no Competing Interests"
 
Scientific Misconducts
Plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification are considered as the scientific misconducts in this journal.
  • Plagiarism
    The manuscripts' contents should not be copied from other studies. The authors should mention their resources in the case of using a part of another research or ideas of another researcher.
  • We check the plagiarism using appropriate software and the respectable authors are recommended to check their manuscripts on the Plagiarism Checker and Plagscan website before sending it to the journal.    
Fabrication
Fabrication is defined as making up data, results and reporting them.
Falsification
It is manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes or changing or omitting data or results such that the research is not accurately represented in the research record.
 
Committee on Publication Ethics
MSHSJ still is not a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), but we are committed to implementing the principles of it. We are trying to be a member in the future. Please follow the guidelines of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), for information on this matter in publishing and ethical guidelines please visit COPE.
 
Fee
  • The journal does not receive any fees for publishing the articles.
  • Loading, submission and access to all published articles is free of charge.
 
Peer-review Procedure
  • The articles submitted to the journal office, in the case of title approval and consideration of the journal writing principles, will be sent confidentially (without-name) to two or three referees who are not members of the journal editorial board as far as possible (Double blind peer reviewing). After receiving the referees’ comments and editorial board's approval, in the case of initial acceptance, the raised comments will be sent to the corresponding author for corrections. The author should act on the comments as soon as possible and return the article to the journal office. After controlling the demanded reforms, the article will be resent to the referees for confirmation. In the case of referees' final approval, the article will be accepted.
  • The average time of articles revision to Final admission is 4 to 6 months (Review Process of Manuscript).
 
Complaints Procedures
We hope no complaints will be made. If it happens, we will try to put it on the agenda immediately. The complainant must be aware that the matter cannot be investigated unless the corresponding author or author and possibly the institution or company at which the research took place is informed about the complaint.
 
How to Make a Complaint
  • The best way to contact us is by email. Complaints should clearly contain the topic, person, or event related to the MSHSJ.
  • Whenever possible, complaints will be processed by the relevant member of the Editorial Board. If that person cannot deal with the complaint, it will be referred to the Editorial Board of MSHSJ.
  • Complaints that are not under the control of the MSHSJ's Editorial Board will be sent to School of Public Health Research Ethic Committee. Finally, if complaints are not resolved in the School committee, it will be sent to Shahid Sadoughi University Research Ethics Committee.
  • If possible, a full response will be made within about four weeks. If this is not possible, an interim response will be given within four weeks.

All Articles published in MSHSJ are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution -NonCommercial 4.0 International Public License which allows users to read, copy, distribute and make derivative works for non-commercial purposes from the material, as long as the author of the original work is cited properly.
 
Retraction Policy
The MSHSJ uses the COPE flowchart for retraction of a published article.

The articles published by MSHSJ are archived on our website and also in multiple international databases around the world. These databases include:

All journal issues are archived in the library of School of Public Health in Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences.
 
Advertising Policy
The journal does not carry advertising, neither print nor online.
 
Main Body
  • On the first page, includes type of manuscript, title, names and affiliations of authors, scientific rank of author (s) and corresponding author.
  • Type of manuscript: Original research, Review research, Book review, and Letter to Editor.
  • Title: should be clear and reflects the objectives, and must be written without abbreviation. It includes maximum 20 words.
  • Names of authors: * denote corresponding authors.
  • The address of the corresponding author: including the exact postal address, e-mail, and telephone numbers.
Original research
  • Should be set in the following order: abstract; keywords; introduction, methods, results, discussion; conclusion; acknowledgments; authors’ contributions; funding; competing interests; references.
  • Should be no more than 3000 words, without the title page, abstract, references.
  • Should contain a structured abstract lower than 300 words and the abstract should include: Background, Methods, Results and Conclusion.
  • The number of keywords should be between 3 and 6, and selected based on the MeSH.
 Review research
  • Systematic review
The structure of systematic review is similar to original research.
  • Review
  • Should be written in the following order: abstract, keywords, introduction, methods, main features, conclusion; acknowledgments; authors’ contributions; funding; competing interests; references.
  • Should be no more than 4000 words, without the title page, abstract, references.
  • Should contain a structured abstract lower than 300 words and the abstract should include: objective, information resources and selected methods for study, results, conclusions, key words.
  • The number of keywords should be between 3 and 5, and developed based on the MeSH.
 Book review
  • Should be written in the following order: title; body; conclusion; references.
  • Should be no more than 3500 words.
  • Should contain a structured abstract lower than 125 words, and the abstract should include: title, introduction, conclusion, key words.
 Letter to editor
  • Should be written with topics of interest to the MSHSJ readership.
  • Should be no more than 1000 words.
  • These articles should include title, abstract, key words, main text and references.
 References
  • All articles should have the relevant and up-dated references.
  • All the article references should be written in Vancouver format and in English language.
  • Authors can refer to Persian guidelines of the journal for the article's arrangements and settings.

 General guide to arranging articles

  • The text of the article should be typed in Word software in A4 size with 12Bazanin font with a line spacing of 1 cm and a margin of 3 cm from the top and bottom, and 2.5 cm from the left and right. Also, the English text should be typed in 12 Times New Roman font.
  • The photos should be in TIF, JPEG or GIF format to have the clearest image in the website version of the article.
  • If the Persian equivalent or English Idioms is used, the original words should be defined in parentheses.
  • Abbreviations should not be used in the title and abstract of the article.
  • In the text of the article, the abbreviations should be presented in full at the first use and in the following cases can be used as abbreviation.
  • Names of international authors should be given in the text in Persian.
  •  Percentage should be written in letters (for example, 29 percentage instead of 29%) and decimal numbers should be presented in Persian, for example, 06/15 and the decimal number should be the same in the whole text of the article, for example, up to 2 digits.
  • All numbers in the text, tables and labels in the chart should be in Persian and written in mathematics.
  • All tables should be designed in Persian format and language (from right to left) and the table and chart should be white and the chart guide should be on the right side of the chart.
  • The quotation mark (ie, quotation mark " ")should be used in Persian,
  • Footnotes and subtitles do not use in the text, and the content should be presented in the form of text.
  • The author's ORCID should be mentioned after the authors' names and affiliation.
Table setting guide
  •  The total number of tables should be proportional to the number of article words 
  • The title of tables and its number should be given at the top, and each one should have a Persian title, clear and complete.
Example: Table 1: Table title (tables should be in the middle of the line)
  • Avoid duplication of findings. The contents of tables, etc. should not be repeated in the text.
  • All tables should be mentioned in the text
  • The format of tables should be like the sample articles on the journal site.
  • The text of tables should be B Nazanin font , 10 point
  • At the bottom of tables, the name of test and level of significance should be mentioned as subtitles.
  • Tables should be completely clear as their understanding should not depend on reading the full text.
  • Table cells should not be empty.
  • Abbreviations should be presented in full in the footnote.
  • The exact amount of “p-value” (for example, p = 0.01) should be written in the whole article, except for cases where p-value is less than 0.001 (the value of P should be mentioned in the tables(
  • Write zero in the tables instead of p>0.001
  • Distance is required before and after mathematical symbols (=> <+ -)
Example (p = 0.01)
  • Average and standard deviation in the tables and text should be written as follows, Mean±SD.
 Example, 25.04 ± 4.04  

General guide to shapes and diagrams
  • Graphs must be of high quality and resolution.
  • The title of diagrams and its figures should be given below, and each of them should have a Persian title, clear and complete and in the middle of China
  • Graphs and figures should be perfectly expressive regardless of the text of the article: their understanding should not depend on reading the full text.
