Background: Program and strategy play a significant role in the efficiency of hospitals. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the obstacles and facilitators of preventive programs and strategies for medical errors in order to improve the patient's safety.
Methods: In this survey study errors profile of 2016, the error reporting process, and error handling were investigated. Then, a self-written questionnaire was developed. The statistical population of this study consisted of managers, physicians, nurses, residents, and interns of the hospital. Due to the limited statistical population, sampling was not done in this study and the whole population was studied. After verifying the formal and content validity, from 240 distributed questionnaires, 148 completed questionnaires were received. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to measure the reliability. The data were analyzed using SPSS 20 software and with descriptive statistics, such as mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage.
Results: The findings of this study showed that the participants in the study investigated the effect of process facilitators (with a mean of 3.24) more than structural facilitators (with a mean of 3.14) and the effect of structural barriers (with a mean of 3.13) more than process obstacles (with a mean of 3.47). Moreover, among the subset of structural facilitators, personnel clinical experience (with a mean of 3.59), and among the subset of process facilitators, the recruitment of a safety expert (with a mean of 3.33) and among the sub-set of structural barriers, hiding culture (with an Mean of 2. 57) and finally, among the subset of process barriers, lack of covering the 24-hour safety team (with a mean of 3.05) were evaluated by the study community as more important obstacles.
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it is recommended to pay more attention to hiding culture as a barrier and personnel clinical experience as a facilitators in designing and implementing preventive programs and strategies for medical errors.

Background: Delay in patient's timely discharge can affect the efficiency of beds, outcomes of treatment and hospital indicators. The aim of this study was to determine delay causes in the discharge of patients in educational hospitals of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of medical sciences from nurses and physicians' perspective, 2016.
Methods: The population of this analytic and cross-sectional study consisted of physicians and nurses in 3 educational hospitals affiliated with Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences. In this study, 90 physicians and 275 nurses were randomly selected from these hospitals. Data were collected using self-made questionnaire. The data were analyzed by SPSS 20 software using descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and analytic statistic tests (independent t-test and ANOVA).
Results: According to the results of the study, in hospitals A and B, “Financial unaffordability with the mean scores of 3.29 ± 0.95 and 3.36 ± 1.70 was the most important cause of delayed discharge, respectively. However, in hospital C, “Delay recording and sending information by healthcare department” with the mean score of 3.87 ± 0.71 was the most important cause of delay in discharge (p < 0.05) from the nurses and physicians' perspectives. In nurses' point of view, “Financial unaffordability” (3.24 ± 1.41) and in physicians', point of view “delay in sending settlements by pharmacy and laboratory” (3.15 ± 0.70) were the most important reasons for delay in patients’ discharge.
Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, providing supportive mechanisms for patients, developing insurance and monitoring the optimal performance of hospital units can reduce the delay in timely discharge of patients; since delay in discharge can increase patients' dissatisfaction, reduce hospital beds efficiency and defect hospital indicators.

Background: Today, conflict is a common topic that occupies the human thought more than any other issues. On the other hand, use of emotional intelligence and its components leads to effective conflict management. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and conflict management strategies among the selected hospitals of Karaj, Iran.
Methods: This correlational and cross-sectional study was conducted among the selected hospitals of Karaj in 2017. The sample size consisted of 32 managers at different levels of hospitals selected by census method. Data were collected using the standard questionnaires and analyzed by the descriptive and analytical statistics as well as Spearman correlation using SPSS 19 software.
Results: The average score regarding the conflicts management among the managers was 108.3 ± 20.8 out of 134. The conflict management strategy used more frequently by most of the managers was the non-response strategy with an average score of 51.5 ± 12.5. Emotional intelligence showed a "good" status with an average of 121.9 ± 18.7 among the managers of the two hospitals. A significant relationship was also observed between the conflict management strategies and self-concept component of emotional intelligence.
Conclusion: The "non-response" strategy was more frequently used by the managers. Some components of the emotional intelligence (self-help) have correlation with the conflict management. So, managers should learn other strategies in the area of conflict management strategies. This in turn, has a positive impact on human resource management and organizational performance improvement.

Background: Motivation for progress is the desire or passion for success that is affected by many factors; time management, as an inevitable factor affects the academic achievement. This project was carried out with the aim of investigating the relationship between time management and academic achievement motivation among the students of Public Health School of Yazd University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: This cross-sectional and analytical study was conducted on 140 students of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in 2016 by stratified random sampling. To collect data, Truman and Hartley time management questionnaire (14 items) and Valerand's academic motivation scale (AMS) (28 items) were used. Reliability of the time management questionnaire was 0.72 using the Cronbach's alpha. The validity of this questionnaire was also confirmed by factor analysis. To assess the psychometric results of AMS, all qualitative-quantitative stages of formal validity, and content validity were performed. The reliability of the questionnaire was also verified by Cronbach's alpha (α = 0.88) and split-half (α = 0.73). Data were then analyzed using SPSS 18 and by running the descriptive statistics (percentage, mean, standard deviation), independent t-test, ANOVA, as well as Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients.
Results: Based on the results, a positive and significant correlation was found between the 2 motivational and time management variables (r = 0.1) (p = 0.03). We observed no significant relationship of time management and motivation for progress with any the demographic variables of the students.
Conclusion: Considering the significant relationship between time management and the motivation for academic achievement, we recommend further investigations on the education of time management methods. The educational courses on time management should enhance the motivation for progress among students. They also can help students to improve their academic achievements.

Background: Considering the increased frequency of high-risk pregnancies that require further care, most high-risk mothers are dispatched from medical centers to higher-level hospitals. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the frequency and causes of dispatching high-risk pregnant mothers from the medical centers to the delivery department of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in 2011 - 2015.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on all high-risk pregnant women who were dispatched to the delivery ward of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi hospital from the second half of 2011 to the first half of 2015. The sampling method was based on census. The required data were collected from the information of patients' profiles in hospital archives. The sample size was 179 people. In order to analyze the data, we used SPSS 20 and run descriptive statistical tests of frequency distribution.
Results: The mean age of participants was 27.7 ± 2.0 years, most of them were housewife (96.4 %), pregnant for the first time (39.9 %), and preterm (88.7 %). Maternal and fetal causes of dispatch were 55.2 % and 44.8 %, respectively. The most common maternal cause was preeclampsia (24.0 %) and the most frequent fetal cause included preterm labor (21.8 %). Furthermore, 66.0 % of mothers were discharged after medical treatment. The frequency rates of caesarean section and normal delivery were 34.1 % and 22.9 %, respectively.
Conclusion: The most common reasons for dispatch of mothers were lack of access to facilities, pre-eclampsia, and preterm labor. High-risk mothers should be educated to avoid pregnancy and have regular prenatal cares. The hospitals should be equipped with facilities such as baby-care beds. They also need to equip the high-risk pregnancy departments and employ professional staffs such as gynecologists and anesthesiologists. The mentioned factors can play an important role in reducing the transfers, protecting maternal and fetal health, and reducing the financial burden.

Background: In order to develop entrepreneurship, we need to study and recognize the present entrepreneurship situation precisely. The aim of this study was to determine the entrepreneurship behavior of the faculty members in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences and its effective structural factors.
Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted among 270 faculty members working in 5 schools of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2018. A three-part standard questionnaire including demographic characteristics, entrepreneurial behavior, and structural factors questions was used for data collection. Furthermore, ANOVA and linear regression modeling were applied using Stata 13 software.
Results: The mean scores reported for the entrepreneurial behavior and structural elements of participants were 3.76 ± 0.55 and 2.51 ± 0.89, respectively. These rates show high tendency of the faculty members toward the entrepreneurship and average conditions for the structural elements. With increase of age, entrepreneurship behavior increased; whereas, an increase in the educational level led to a decrease in entrepreneurship behavior (p < 0.05). Finally, in the last model, the organizational structure revealed a significant effect on entrepreneurship behavior (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Considering the effect of structural elements on entrepreneurial behavior of the faculty members, we need such substructure in the universities and the higher education organizations of Iran to assist development of entrepreneurial behavior among the faculty members.
